Actor and internet idol Panya “Keng Laiprang” Yimimphai was sent back to prison after confessing in the Court that he had illegal drugs in his possession when locked up years ago

Panya who nickname means camouflage had originally denied the charges which stated he had over half a gram of methamphetamine which he intended to sell while he was incarcerated in Khlong Prem Prison.

He was arrested in January but until the trial which took place on Wednesday he had been released on bail.

At the hearing at Bangkok’s Ratchadapisek Criminal Court Panya changed his plea to guilty and the sentence of six years and eight months as well as a 560,000 baht fine was reduced to three years and four months with a 280,000 baht fine.

There are plans to appeal the decision and Panya’s mother offered to pay 550,000 baht as bail insurance but Panay has been incarcerated pending a decision by the appeals committee.

Panya’s film career has been busy lately recently appearing in the movie “A Prayer Before Dawn” which was shown at this year’s Cannes film festival where he was in attendance.

Panya was incarcerated for 8 years back in 2003 for attempted murder and robbery but since being released in 2011 is said to be a changed man.

Along with his acting career he also works as a DJ and presenter as well as doing nightclub appearances where he has gained over two million followers on Facebook.
