Most foreigner’s in Thailand will be well aware of how difficult it is to obtain a work permit in the country. Many believed that new measures would make life easier for farangs to come here and find employment but that is not the case.
The authorities have issued an emergency decree, which does bear good news for foreigners wishing to work in the Kingdom.
So what do the rules state. Well firstly, any employer who takes on a foreign worker without a work permit, will face a fine of up to 800,000 baht per employee.
The employee can be jailed for up to five years, fined up to 100,000 baht of both.
Any foreigner caught working out with the rules of the permit, can be jailed for six months and a 100,000 baht fine.
In some instances imprisonment of up to ten years can be applied along with a one million baht fine.
It appears that the authorities do not wish to endorse foreign labour, making it more difficult of workers to enter the Kingdom.
