Blow As New Tank Order Is Cut By Thirty-Eight
An order for Chinese manufactured VT-4 battle tanks has been drastically reduced from the original order of 98 to 60 due to insufficient funds being available to the Royal Thai Army.
The 60 new tanks will replace the M-41, which are American made. The M-41s have been in service for over forty years and in desperate need of replacement.
The army hope to take delivery of the new tanks later in the year.
They will be distributed to the 2nd and 3rd Cavalry Battalions in the north-eastern provinces of Khon Kaen and Udon Thani
