Thailand’s government have approved new tax rates on alcohol and cigarettes, following a meeting with the cabinet on Tuesday.
All changes will be made available in the Royal Gazette before they take effect on the 16th of September 2017.
Sansern Kaewkamnerd, a spokesman for the government confirmed that new tax rates have been agreed saying that alcohol, cigarettes and playing cards will be affected by the changes.
However, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha added that the changes will not be excessive and there is no requirement for businesses to stock pile alcohol and cigarettes leading up to the alterations, suggesting that any increases would be small.
