Thousand flock for songkran

Immigration fees have been wiped for migrant workers for the first time, permitting workers to exit and re-enter the country without paying fees, providing they return between April 5th and 30th.

As a result of the announcement, hordes of people began queueing at the Aranyaprathet checkpoint

The crowds started to queue up at the Aranyaprathet checkpoint in Sa Kaeo province before opening hours. Migrants must present their passports and working slip to officials before entering Cambodia.

Additional resources have deployed to deal with the queues.

Police are also patrolling the border to in search of illegal migrants attempting to return to Cambodia, resulting in a number of arrests so far.
