According to the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department summer storms from March 13 to 20 have caused widespread damage to much of the kingdom affecting over 300 villages across 22 provinces.
Director-General Chayapol Thitisak said initial estimates are that the storms have damaged as many as 2,559 homes in 340 villages across 22 provinces.
The worst affected are people living in the North and Northeast in provinces such as Chiang Mai and Buriram.
Reports of damaged homes were also made in central regions as well as Chonburi located in the east of the kingdom.
Officials from the department are coordinating with local authorities to provide relief and assistance to those worst affected, while officials have been sent to assess damage in certain areas in order to value to correct amount of compensation to be handed out.
