A ceremony was held at the Royal Crematorium complex in Bangkok this morning led by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to start the official deconstruction of the complex.
Sculptures and artwork from inside and outside of the main buildings will now be moved to the Office of Traditional Arts in Nakhon Pathom province.
Artwork not sent to Nakhon Pathom will be sent to a purpose built museum in Pathum Thani where students will have the opportunity to learn about Thai culture during the late monarchs reign.
The complete demolition of the complex is scheduled to be complete by March according to the director of the Fine Arts Department Anan Chuchote.
