Officers set up a check point at the Mueang Phuket District Office intersection and handed out helmets to those on bikes without them, it was reported that 50 helmets were given away during today’s operation.
The helmets were for young children from kindergarten to primary school age as police noticed that often children were riding with parents or guardians without helmets.
The operation will continue again tomorrow and throughout the festive period where more helmets will be given away as part of the nation’s continuing effort to combat fatalities on the roads.
The helmets were sponsored by Boonrod Trading and will be given away at various intersections around Phuket over the coming days.
