Police have issued a warrant for the poster of a clip that was posted on Facebook that alleged a hotel under construction in Bangkok was dangerous and was near collapse
The rumour was quickly debunked after experts spoke out about the buildings unusual design.
Police have taken action against Dr kanoksak Chongchaipak who is a well know skin doctor after the building’s owners lodged an official complaint with the police for spreading false information on social media.
On August 15, Dr Kanoksak posted a clip with the description stating that the hotel was subsiding and that workers had stopped working fearing its collapse.
Police said they have summoned the doctor for violating the Computer Crimes Act for disseminating false information that lead to public disorder and panic.
Officers have said they may consider summoning other users who intentionally spread the false story.
The metropolitan police commissioner said that the doctor could face up to five years in prison or a fine of 100,000 baht for his post.
The building that has caused all the commotion will be known as the Rosewood Bangkok when it opens in 2019.
