Thailand's Prime Minister now has his own Facebook account

The Prime Minister of Thailand Prayuth Chan-ocha has taken his first steps into the world of social media and has opened his own Facebook Page.

Which he claims offers his followers “an unfiltered feed” from the leader of the country.

The page was launched in mid-August and already has over 8,000 followers and features a cover photo of the Prime Minister with a message thanking his followers.

The Page also features a picture of the PM mulling over some paperwork while waiting for a flight to Nakhom Ratchasima to take off with a comment “preparing to talk to the people, while waiting for the flight to take off.”

This is the first time the PM has used social media perhaps seeing its advantages as it will allow him to convey messages to his followers faster than newspapers or television broadcasts.

Followers were quick to comment on the page one wrote “I love Uncle Tuu” referring to the PM by his nickname.

Others left comments saying they had chosen to follow so they could keep up-to-date with current political affairs.
