The meeting called by the PM was attended by the natural resources and environment minister, the agriculture and cooperatives minister, the director-general of the Royal irrigation Department and the deputy secretary for natural resources and environment.
Topics covered during the meeting included the current flood situation, progress of draining excess waters into the East and West Gulf of Thailand and compensation for people affected by flooding.
The Bangkok governor Aswin Khwanmuang, who was also in attendance at the meeting said that preparations for further flooding were also discussed.
He said that 55 location around the capital were affected by Saturdays heavy rains, city workers had since managed to drain waters away using over 1,000 canals and the water level in all canal except Khlong Prem Prachakorn had been lowered in case of more rains.
The Bangkok governor said that workers will now survey all drainage pipes in the city especially the older ones which are smaller in size and where necessary they will be replaced working in connection with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and Metropolitan Waterworks Authority.
