Public being encouraged to wear blue for the Queen's birthday

The interior ministry is encouraging the public to wear light-blue attire to celebrate the birthday of HM Queen Sirikit

Her Majesty will be 85 this Saturday (August 12) the reason behind the blue colour is that the Queen was born on a Friday which in Thailand is associated with the colour blue.

The government has organised multiple events to mark the special day including alms-giving ceremonies across the nation at provisional halls where people can also leave messages of well wishing.

There will also be a candle lit ceremony held at 7.19pm which will be broadcast on television.
