Three diners died when a truck ploughed into a restaurant in the Na Klang district of Nong Bua Lam Phu on Thursday evening.
Seven others were injured as the rampant vehicle rammed into seven cars before causing devastation at the Prakob Ocha restaurant, where customers where enjoying their meals. Guests had to jump clear to avoid injury but many were taken by surprise.
One man died at the scene, with two others being pronounced dead in hospital, one of which was a female..
The victims were identified as Thongkham Pirunsunthorn, 50, Wichit Arirapitak, 45 and Ms Wilasinee Thaweechart, 26.
The truck driver Runjuan Pongkhwanoi, 30, of Chaiyaphum province, tested negative for alcohol and drugs but was charged with reckless driving.
Mr. Pongkhwanoi said he was blinded by the headlights of an oncoming vehicle, causing him to lose control.
It is unclear how fast the vehicle was travelling at the time of impact. An investigation is ongoing.
