People who live on Song Wad Road in Bangkok began moving their belongings to safety on Monday over fears of flooding from the nearby Chao Phraya River.
Volunteer and city workers began to deploy sandbags in anticipation for flooding.
A warning was issued by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration stating that a swollen river current traveling down from the north of the country was likely to hit Bangkok between September 4 to 8 at the same time as a seasonal inflow of seawater.
The governor of Bangkok advised residents who had houses outside of flood defence barriers to brace themselves for the coming waters and told officials to closely monitor the situation in an announcement made last Thursday.
There are an estimated 496 households across ten districts at risk of flooding.
