Lifeguards posted on Patong Beach were quick to act yesterday afternoon and were able to resuscitate a 76-year-old tourist from Russia that had gotten themselves into trouble out in the water.
The tourist was identified as Valentina Mitrofanova.
Lifeguards working noticed that the Russian tourist was in trouble and brought her to shore on the beach in front of the Holiday Inn at around 4pm
Tourist police speaking about the incident said lifeguards had no choice but to administer CPR once the woman was ashore as she was unresponsive, she was then rushed to Patong Hospital before being transfer to Vachira Phuket Hospital once her condition improved.
It was reported that Ms Mitrofanova had only arrived in Thailand yesterday and was part of a tour group staying at the Arita hotel.
Ms Mitrofanova remains in hospital where she continues to be under observation.
