This year Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports will be focusing on what they are calling secondary tourism destinations as their main focus when promoting the kingdom according to the National Policy Committee for Tourism.
A meeting was held yesterday chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak to discuss this year’s promotional strategy for tourism here in Thailand.
The minister of Tourism and Sports, Weerasak Kowsurat said that tourism revenue generated over the course of 2018 is expected to hit the three trillion-baht mark with one trillion baht generated by Thai tourism.
He noted that the number of tourist that have arrived in Thailand is already higher during the first two months of 2018 compared to that of 2017.
The minister elaborated that this year’s strategy for tourism promotion will focus on promoting lesser known locations around the kingdom to stimulate local economies.
The ministry will work with various agencies to facilitate the travel of tourists to other cities around the kingdom.
Plans to allocate money to improve facilities in targeted regions are being put in place.
