A high up source who wished to remain anonymous told the media that Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan has ordered both soldier and police at the Malaysian border.
To be more meticulous in stopping cigarettes from being smuggled into the nation after their recent price increase.
The order apparently came after the Excise Department raised the tax on cigarettes and alcohol.
Police Commissioner Gerneral Chakthip Chaijinda has apparently ordered the southern police to cooperate with the Internal Security Operations Command to establish measures to prevent smuggling of cigarettes into the Kingdom.
