Spider Card To Be Released In October In Bangkok

The long awaited Spider Card will soon be with us, fourteen months behind schedule and amidst claims that it won’t work on most trains.

The Spider Card will be released for general use on October 1st but it will only work on BTS and MRT and some city buses upon its launch.

The delay in having the new travel card fully operation is because of “limited” testing hours, officials claim. They cannot install machines and carry out testing during operational hours of the train services. So all work starts at midnight and concludes at 04:00 each day.

Eventually, the system should make travelling much easier. Top up your card and swipe on to trains and buses across Bangkok, should be with us soon
