After yesterday’s announcement that all 7-Eleven stores across Thailand will close on October 26, the day of the Royal Cremation of his late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej,
where all 7-elevens will close from 2:30pm until midnight other stores have now announced similar closures.
Makro announced that there stores will close at 3pm and all True stores with the exception of those in airports will also close at 3pm so their staff can pay their final respects to the late king.
The 26 is an official public holiday meaning that banks government buildings and even the Thai stock market will be closed.
Many public transport organisations are offering free transportation around the Bangkok area to help facilitate travel of those attending the ceremonies in Bangkok with some petrol stations offering discounted fuel to mourners travelling to the capital.
