Officials at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok are expecting a very busy festive period this year and to help facilitate the large number of tourists arriving in the kingdom during this time they have added an additional 1,000 registered taxi’s to their roster.
The additional drivers have been reportedly taken on until the end of January 2018 with many starting back on November 22 which might explain the shorter taxi queues over the last couple of weeks.
It was reported that drivers are picking up as many as 10,000 fares a day since the start of the high season compared to 9,000 a day during the same period last year.
Suvarnabhumi’s director Sirote Duangrat said that his staff have been instructed to monitor queues for those waiting for a taxi and anyone who has been waiting over 15 minutes will have a taxi immediately dispatched from the departure terminal located on floor four.
Perhaps Don Mueang will follow suit and employee additional drivers after complaints surfaced online regarding long waits for those trying to hail a taxi.
