Following some recent media attention on the price of food and drink at Suvarnabhumi International Airport the deputy director of the airport announced today that a new low-price food area will be opening at the airport next month.
Suvarnabhumi Airport deputy director Dalad Asavet said that the new the new low-priced food corner will be an addition to the Magic Food point already located inside the passenger terminal.
The new food corner is being built outside of the passenger building and will occupy a 120 square meter area to the east of the terminal.
The food area will have a variety of vendors selling dishes from 30 baht a dish and water from 30 baht per bottle and will be able to cater for 150-200 customers at a time.
The magic Food Point is also going to be extended by an additional 50 square meters to accommodate additional customers and work is planned to be complete in time for the upcoming Songkran festival.
The new low-cost food zone will be added to all electronic guide points and information booths.
Airport officials are currently awaiting average food prices from the Office of Ombudsman in an effort to make sure food is not sold at a price of more than 25 percent of that sold at shopping malls here in Thailand.
