A fuel tanker overturned, before bursting into flames in the Sikhui district of Nakhon Ratchasima on Saturday.
The driver Jakkrapop Thamrongrat, 55, is in a critical condition in hospital following the incident.
The vehicle was carrying 30,000 litres of ethanol when the driver lost control on a bend as he approached the bridge, resulting in the tanker overturning around 06:15.
Mr. Thamrongrat tried to escape the inferno but suffered severe burns. Locals assisted him at the scene before he was taken to hospital.
The tanker, which is owned by Mae Sot Logistics Solutions, was travelling from
Chaiyaphum to Saraburi.
Ethanol is basically drinking alcohol and is colourless and highly inflammable. It is usually produced by fermenting sugars by yeast or from a petrochemical process.
It is used for medical, fuel and recreational purposes.
