According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yutthasak Supasorn, who announced today that experts are predicting that foreign and Thai tourist are expected to spend 15.56 billion baht from December 29 to January 2.

Using data from various sources including airline ticket sales and hotel accommodation bookings it is predicted that roughly 420,000 foreign tourists are expected to arrive in the kingdom over the New Year’s period, this is a 17 percent jump on the figure from the same period last year.

While here Yutthasak stated they are estimated to spend around 6.5 billion baht, which is an increase of 30 percent on the same period last year.

Another interesting revelation was that a total of 2.48 million Thai citizens are expected to visit tourist destinations across the kingdom which is actually 4 percent less than the same period last year, however despite fewer tourists they are predicting a 2 percent increase in spending with an estimated amount to be spent of 8.994 billion baht.
