The Thai government has requested that television broadcasters air programs in a black and white format.
And air programmes about his Majesty Rama IX for 20 days leading up to his cremation.
An announcement was made by cabinet member Ormsin Chivapruck on Tuesday which called for the changes to broadcasting to take place for the duration of the funeral rites asking for all channels to cooperate by following the guidelines stated above.
Ormsin said that the media is already cooperating and he has also requested that on the 26th of October which is the first day of the cremation all large screens at traffic intersections show the funeral ritual.
For a month after his Majesty’s death TV channels aired their broadcasts in black & white or toned down colours and websites switched to black & white with many continuing to do so even now.
Websites at this time have not been requested to adopt the black & white colour scheme for the funeral.
Large lines continue to form outside the Grand palace as people continue to pay their respects to his late Majesty King Rama IX
