Dorrudee Jumlongras now notorious for avoiding her debts will have her Thai dental license revoked after non-payment of a debt totalling 36 million baht ($1,080,000).
After she left Thailand over 20 years ago to study at Harvard University.
The Dental Council of Thailand announced yesterday that they will revoke her dental license as she has broken her contracts over three educational loans.
Dolrudee had promised to sell off assets in America to repay her debts but has since reneged on those promises.
The Council has accused Dolrudee of misconduct and fraud and said she has damaged the reputation of the dental profession saying that annulling her license was a fitting punishment.
It is claimed that Dolrudee received an education loan in 1993 from four professors at Mahidol University to go and study at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in the US.
Four professors guaranteed an 8 million baht loan according to one of the guarantors, Dr Padej Poonwithayakij.
He said the agreement was for Dorrudee to return and pay off the loan by working at Mahidol after he studies were complete.
Instead of returning and working at the university to repay her loan Padej claims the debt-dodging dentist spent more than 20 years in the US during which time she married an American man and resigned from her possession at Mahidol Unviersity.
He said she broke her scholarship contract and left those who had guaranteed her debt in the lurch. The 8 million baht debt has since grown to 36 million baht due to interest and her further studies.
In 2006 a ruling by the Administrative Court ordered Dolrudee to repay her debt but she never repaid any of the debt.
Another of the guarantors Padet Poolwithayakit said he was pleased with the decision to revoke her license and urged for an English translation to be sent to authorities in the US especially in Massachusetts, where Dolrudee has a private dental practice.
