THE Thai football team rescued from a flooded cave will be coming to London in two months.
Fifa President Gianni Infantino revealed boys and their coach have all been invited to attend the “Fifa Best” awards at the London Palladium on September 24.
The glittering ceremony will crown the world’s best male and female player as well as the leading coaches.
But Infantino announced the rescued team will be his guests of honour after they were unable to leave hospital to attend tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) World Cup Final in Moscow.
Infantino said: “The whole world was watching and praying for nine days and then again until all the boys and coach came out.
“It touched the world, in particular football because it was a team of boys, like we have all been, doing things that we can’t talk about, the things you get up to when you are 12, 13 or 14.
“Thankfully there was a happy end. They were invited to the final but unfortunately can’t come. But they will come to the Fifa Best Awards in London in September.”
The boys, all aged between 11 and 16, disappeared along with their 25-year-old coach after football practice on June 23.
They had set out to explore the cave complex to celebrate a boy’s birthday.
The alarm was first raised when the “Wild Boars” team failed to return home and their belongings were found near the entrance to the caves.
