A Thai women, who had her legs amputated, has won a competition in the country called “Best Job In Thailand”.
Nitcharee Peneakchanasak, lost her legs as a teenager in a rail accident. Now 21, she will earn one million baht per month working in a hospital.
Nitcharee was selected for the post, from hundreds of applicants and will work at the hospital for six months.
This is a dream come true for the winner. She will take up the position of “Happiness Observer” at the facility.
Known as “Thun” she commented “I think I won the competition because I was true to myself. I showed them that this is what I love doing. Plus, I had overcome my accident, which was quite a unique experience.”
Thun is studying journalism at university in Bangkok. This will help her during her time working in the hospital, for part of the role is speaking to patients and writing reports for the administrators. She will also be tasked with producing inspiring stories on Facebook.
Getting back to full health is not just about the physical aspect of care in hospital. If we understand what is going on with patients mental health, we can enhance recovery speeds said a hospital spokesperson.
Following the loss of her legs in a tragic accident, Thun has displayed incredible mental strength to achieve what she has in life so far. If she can inspire others, then she will be an asset to the hospital.
She lost her legs when she fell in front of a train from a station platform in Singapore.
