The Ministry of Tourism and Sport aims to increase the number of tourist coming to Thailand by focusing on sport, maritime and cuisine.
The new focus is a result of the way Thai tourism industry views tourism it no longer focuses on head count but rather the revenue generate by tourists which last year contributed as much as 17.7% of Thailand’s GDP.
Promoting food to the tourism industry is at the forefront of the new initiative, later in the year the Michelin Star Guide Book will review restaurants in Bangkok. When published Thailand will be the sixth country in Asia to have a Michelin Guide.
Minister for Tourism and Sports, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul Said “Thailand plans to venture into maritime tourism, as we hope to attract not only super yachts, but also luxury yachts.”
Plans are also being put in place to increase visitors by promoting package tours with neighbouring countries.
The inanities are all part of making Thailand a quality leisure destination suitable for the whole family.
