Thailand is set to become a food industry “superpower” if Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha gets his way.
The prime minister visited Chanthaburi on Wednesday to attend the Fruitiful Fair 2017 event. The region is famed for its fruit production, which inspired the country’s leaders comments.
“Thailand may not become a military superpower but it is possible for us to be a world leader in the food industry” he said.
The government has been affording its support to farmers and fruit producers, encouraging them to “stand on their own two feet” rather than simply increasing prices, which they say is not sustainable in the long term.
The nation requires food producers to develop and improve their products, enhancing quality and production so that they can compete in world markets said the PM.
This is what Thailand requires. Improving how the country works, attracting new business ventures, improving and driving tourism up, increasing jobs and working together for a better future.
