The Thai governments Public Relations Department are confident that the digital television network currently being installed at multiple television stations across the kingdom will be up and running before the existing National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) will cease operation at the end of March.
Currently digital TV transmitters are being installed and installation has been completed at 168 stations across the kingdom where PRD Deputy Director-General Charoon Chaisorn stated they are ready to begin broadcasting.
The deputy director said he was confident that the installations will be complete ahead of the March 31 deadline when the NBTC will stop broadcasting.
Yesterday (March 19) a training course was held for technicians to teach them about the digital technology which will be used from April 1 to broadcast television and radio.
