Thailand is preparing to host the 37th Asean Tourism Forum (ATF 2018) which will take place at the Chiang Mai Exhibition and Convention Centre from January 22 to 26 and this year’s theme is said to be “Asean-Sustainable Connectivity, Boundless Prosperity.”
The forum is said to be the biggest travel trade event to be held in the Asean region and takes place between 10 different counties each taking a turn at hosting the event.
This will be Thailand’s sixth time at playing host and has made the decision to hold the event in Chiang Mai this time as a result of the governments continuing effort to promote secondary destinations in the kingdom in an effort to create more jobs in rural areas and highlight other areas that Thailand has to offer for tourists.
The one week event will include a meeting with Asean Tourism Ministers and national tourism organisations and members from Asean hotel owners, restaurants, tour operators and airline all in attendance.
There will be seller and representatives from the various fields occupying 323 booths from 275 organisations with Thailand occupying the highest number of booths at the event taking 146 of them.
