Thailand's Deputy PM says Thaksin and Yingluck now in Japan

Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prawit Wongsuwan announced yesterday that former prime ministers now fugitives Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra are currently in Japan.

The Deputy PM did not go into details on how he knew their current location but stated that he has ordered relevant agencies to investigate the matter.

Last week photos surfaced on social media apparently showing the pair shopping in Beijing China ahead of Chinese New Year which takes place on Friday.

Previously former PM Yingluck had been pictured several times in London, UK, where Thaksin allegedly owns several businesses and residences.

Yingluck Fled Thailand last year before a court delivered a verdict relating to her time in office and her government’s rice-pledging scheme, in her absence she was sentenced to five years in prison.

It was announced previously that the Thai government had revoked all of Yingluck’s passports leading many to speculate she must be traveling with a passport issued from another nation.
