Monks defrocked after drinks party in the woods

Three monks have brought shame on themselves in Maha Sarakham province, when there were discovered drinking alcohol in a wooded area close to their temple.

They had been suspected of drinking for a number of months with soldiers, police and other monks being keen to nab them.

They were captured red handed with numerous empty bottles lying within their vicinity.

As a result the trio have been defrocked.

When captured, there were four monks but one had not been drinking and was freed.

The three who were sent for removal from holy orders were aged between 45 and 56.
