An auction for Toon Bodyslam’s running shoes concluded yesterday morning with his four pairs of red shoes selling for a combined total of 4.4 million baht for his charity.
The four pairs of shoes all worn during his charity run from the Southernmost point of the kingdom to the furthest point in the north of Thailand sold for 1.45 million baht, 1.23 million baht, 999,999 baht and 717,000 baht respectively.
Artiwara “Toon” Kongmalai who is currently still running in pursuit of finishing his charity run on schedule, which is to finish on Christmas day is attempting to be the first person to run from the North to the South of Thailand in an effort to raise money for public hospitals.
His marathon journey has made international headlines and despite injury the popular celebrity is on track to make his deadline of finishing in Chiang Rai on December 25.
Support has flooded in from all over the world including a video message from Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy who called Toon an inspiration.
When Toon began his charity run he aimed to raise 700 million baht but as things stand donations have surpassed 830 million with nine days still remaining.
