According the latest figures released by the authorities in Thailand, tourism is up by 4.6% for the month of May, compared to the same period last year.
Claims that revenues also increased by almost 7% were being touted too, although the strong baht could have an impact on industry.
The Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) said that foreign tourists visiting the nation in May, reached 2.6 million. China, Malaysia, Russia, India and the USA visitors were responsible for 125 billion baht in revenue, across the Kingdom.
However TAT said that the strength of the baht against the dollar, the pound and the euro, may have an impact on tourist spending power.
This was not the case with the Russian rouble, which helped increase visitors from Russia.
TAT said that tourism is responsible for around 12% of the Thailand’s revenue.
