Tourist Cash Up

Revenue from tourism is higher in the first 5 months of the year than that of last year.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports announced that profits from tourism were up by 6.1 percent compared with the same time period of last year.

Kobkharn Wattanavrangkul Minister for Tourism and Sports announced that during January to May this year a total of almost 382 million baht had been brought in by the tourism industry.

It was in Bangkok where the highest amount of money was receive, approximately 130 million baht followed by the south netting roughly 84 million baht and the north generating 52 million baht.

Tourist Cash Up

Bangkok was narrowly beaten by the north-eastern region for the highest number of tourist with 15.6 million compared to Bangkok who had 15 million tourists.

The Minister attributes the increase in revenue to the year-round tourism campaign and better transportation through the country.

Whatever the reason for the increase in revenue long may it continue.
