In a statement made by Pongpanu Svetarundra, the Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports, it was announced that arrivals from international tourists had generated revenue exceeding 2.1 trillion baht throughout the first 10 months of this year.
The Permanents Secretary elaborated that during October more than 2 million international tourists arrived in the kingdom an increase of 20.92 percent from the same period in 2016.
According to figures the highest amount of tourists arriving last month came from East Asia, then tourists from Europe, South Asia then America in that order.
People from China remained the largest group of travellers as has been seen for much of 2017, followed by travellers from Malaysia then Lao.
Figures show that the Chinese were also the biggest spenders while here in the kingdom with people from Russia in second place and Malaysia in third for the highest amounts spent on average while here.
It was also noted that local tourist revenue was also on the rise as figures show that they spent 695.2 billion baht from January to September an increase of 7.34 percent over the same period last year.
