The Traffic Police Headquarters in Bangkok have started a Facebook live channel so viewers can see real-time traffic conditions in the city and has had over 23,000 views so far.

The new channel is overseen by the Commissioner of the Traffic Police Pol Maj Gen Jirasan Kaewsangaek and is aimed at providing the public with a tool to help with traveling and commuting around the city.

They will take suggestions from the comments section on the live feed and officials will monitor the impact it has on the city’s traffic.

On its first day the feed had over 23,000 views.

Pol Maj Gen Jirasan did reiterate that using a mobile phone behind the wheel of a vehicle is illegal and drivers are advised to check the feed before setting off or have a passenger watch the stream if they wish to gain info on the traffic situation.

The station will primarily focus on rush hours, traffic updates on routes to avoid and where accidents have taken place.
