Speaking today the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Highways announced that the Ministry of Transport would be beginning a new safety campaign next month for the Songkran Festival as part of the governments new “7-7-7” road safety project.
The new campaign gets its name”7-7-7” as officials intend to run it for seven days before the start of Songkran, seven days during Songkran and seven days after the festival is over.
The campaign is scheduled to begin on April 4 and run until April 24.
The Deputy Director-General Apisit Promasen said it is the goal of the Department of Highways to reduce the number of accidents during the aforementioned period by at least 7 percent.
He advised those intending to travel of the festival period to take adequate rest and make sure they are in good health before traveling.
