A powerful storm hit the province of Phayao last night seriously affecting many people that reside in the Chiang Kham district, soldiers and local police were out in numbers this morning helping with clean-up efforts and disseminating aid.
The roof of the Chiang Kham Wittayakom School as well as many residential buildings roofs were blown off as a result of strong winds from the storm.
Relief efforts were led by Lieutenant Colonel Santiwong Chingdoung who supervised troops from the 17th Infantry Regiment who worked with local authorities to clear debris left by the storm and start repairs.
Troops also handed out relief parcels containing daily essentials to those worst affected.
Currently at the time of writing officials were still surveying the damaged caused to provide an estimate as to the cost of the total damage caused.
