Two Burmese men have been caught in possession of 200 kilograms of Kratom in Patong on Wednesday.
The drug was discovered hidden under a motorbike seat and further investigation, lead them to the culprits accommodation, where more of the drug was found.
The intention was to sell the kratom to foreign workers and young Thai people.
Kratom comes from a tropical evergreen tree, related to the coffee family and can be found throughout south-east Asia.
It has been used for medicinal purposes since the 1800s. However it does have some opiate and stimulant qualities that drug users seek.
A recent study found that Kratom actually had no approved medical use whatsoever but many people swear by it for pain relief.
