Two Chinese nationals were arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport yesterday (October 11) accused of attempting to smuggle eight rhino horns with an estimated worth of 10 million baht through Thailand.

The airports customs office director Bhuntiam Chokwiwat stated that customs officers detained the two individuals while they were in transit from Zambia to Cambodia after discovering the eight horns in their luggage.

The two Chinese men identified as Lin Mi and Cheng Yan Xiu were both charged with breaking customs law and illegal transportation of restricted animal parts.

Bhunitam said that customs officers were suspicious of Cheng’s bag and stopped him to check the contents.

Upon finding the illegal contents Cheng confessed to have been paid 25,000 to transport the horns, however Lin denied all allegations.
