Two women were suspected on smuggling expensive watches into Thailand via Suvarnabhumi Airport on Wednesday.
Customs officials acted when the pair were spotted wearing expensive Swiss Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe wrist watches.
The two Thai ladies are accused of pretending they were personal belongings but officials believe they were being brought in for commercial purposes.
The women confessed when questioned but later accused the authorities of “exceeding their duties” on social media posts.
The market value of the two watches is 1.3 million baht before tax and could be subject to import duty.
Current legislation permits up to 20,000 baht worth of goods per person.
