Students in Phuket are being given the opportunity to earn money during their school breaks.
Some 1700 students can gain work experience in a government backed program.
Almost 250 businesses have offered interim employment to students over the age of 15.
The scholars will be able to gain experience in a number of roles, depending on the placement they are offered.
Restaurants, supermarkets, and local shops have agreed to train the youngsters in roles such as cashiers, customer service and sales.
Earnings of up to 300 baht per day are on offer within the public sector while private companies will pay 40 baht per hour.
The scheme is primarily to give students work experience but it could also assist in helping out families financially.
Students interested in joining the program can contact the Phuket Employment Office or call 1694
