Now it’s no real secret that roundabouts here in Thailand can cause a little confusion for some drivers but this time it was apparently a medical condition that resulted in an accident which was caught on CCTV at a roundabout in Lampang located to the North of the kingdom where a pickup slammed into the roundabout at high speed causing quite a bit of carnage in the process.

The pickup was being driven by 63-year-old Krairik Pongprasert and his wife Wilai also 63 when Wilai said her husband suffered some sort of seizure after which his body “went all stiff” causing him to press down hard on the accelerator before smashing into a car then the roundabout.

As can be seen from the CCTV it’s quite a nasty looking accident in which six vehicles were damaged and remarkably no one was killed though three people were taken to hospital.
The accident happened at 3:20pm yesterday when the couple were traveling down the Chatchai Road towards the roundabout.

Both passengers were taken to hospital but Wilai was conscious enough to explain to officers what had happened leading up to the accident.

Witnesses in the area noted that three other vehicles were damaged out of shot of the camera as the pickup gained momentum in the run-up to the accident.
