Villagers in Songkhla on the lookout after mass crocodile escape

A currently unknown number of crocodiles are on the loose in Songkhla’s Singhanakorn district after a wall at a crocodile farm collapsed on Sunday allowing the reptiles loose.

Local residence fearing for their safety have begun hunting the crocodiles so far killing about 20.

The farm is located on five rai of swamp land and the owner moved the crocs to a new location after discovering the wall had collapsed but was unsure how many had escaped.

Villagers in the area said they had shot at least 20 crocodiles fearing for the safety of their families.

Residents continue to remain on the lookout and the current concern is that any remaining reptiles might populate natural water sources.
