It seems that the National police headquarters are very concerned about the safety of tourists & expats all over Thailand.
Consequently these so called “happy zones’ will be set up in all the tourist areas in Thailand starting with Walking Street Pattaya.
Pattaya sadly has the highest crime rate against tourists in the whole country, this of course is widely reported by foreign press thus damaging the image of this beautiful country & it’s wonderful people.
Police captain Chakkrit Chantakham, deputy inspector of Pattaya police station, along with Police Major General Somprasong Yentuamm, chief of Chonburi, are asking business operators in Walking Street to be vigilant & install CCTV cameras, refrain from serving teenagers alcohol, & to steer clear of drugs.
They also ask entertainment venues not to employ girls who are under 20 years of age, so they will not be exposed to the sex trade.
Walking Street is just the beginning they said, we will then focus of 35 other areas through Pattaya.
General Somprasong Yentuamm said he had been ordered by the National police HQ to stop crime against tourists.
The plan is that all entertainment venues and shops will have their own liaison officer who will work closely with police, military personal & the local municipal authority.
These senior offices are quite confident these “happy zones” will go a long way towards making Thailand’s tourist areas much safer for everyone.
The country needs to clean up it’s image which will result in more happy tourists visiting Thailand.
