It has been reported that a yacht sank in Railay Bay in Ao Nang, Krabi yesterday afternoon about 1 kilometer from the shore.
So far no one has been reported missing or injured as a result of the vessel going down.
Currently officials are of the belief that the yacht sank due to a leak after being anchored offshore.
Passersby spotted the yachts mast sticking out from above the waves.
The chief of Hat Noppharat Thara- Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, Worapot Lomli said he received word about the sunken vessel and ordered officers to investigate.
The yacht is believed to belong to a local business and was anchored on Sunday night before sinking in roughly 5-meter-deep water yesterday.
National Park Officers have placed buoys around the sunken yacht to prevent other boats in the area from colliding with it.
Park officials have contacted the boat’s owner to order it to be removed as it poses a potential hazard for other vessels in the area.
