Back-to-back birdies gives Thailand's Ariya Tour Championship win

Thailand’s own Ariya Jutanugarn won the season-ending LPGA tour championship yesterday thanks to back-to-back birdies on the last two holes.

Ariya birdied an astonishing four times on the last six holes which included putts of 20 feet on the 17th and 23 feet on the 18th to see out the final round five under par with a score of 67 at the tournament held at the Tiburon Golf Club in Florida, USA.

Ariya said after sinking the final putt “I was so nervous my hands were shaking and I started crying after I made it.”

America’s Lexi Thompson and Jessica Korda shared second place one stroke behind Ariya.

Ariya took home a cool $500,000 (1.64 million baht) for winning the tournament which she plans to take to Asia to help her celebrate her 22 birthday.

Ariya Said “I’m going back to Thailand to spend my birthday with family.”
