Are you interested in Thai Boxing? Want to gain further knowledge on Muay Thai? Then read on.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has invited martial arts experts from around the globe to attend the 13th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony.

This years event will take place in the ancient Thai capital of Ayutthaya on the 17th of March 2017 at Wat Mahathat, which is a restored Buddhist monastery.

People will convene for the event in their hundreds, arriving from around the world to enjoy the annual event, displaying respect for teachers and boxers of the ancient sport.

Buakaw Banchamek aka Buakhao (Thai meaning, “white lotus”, (Thai: บัวขาว บัญชาเมฆ, born May 8, 1982)

The event is designed to give Thais and foreigners a greater insight into the world famous sport and is organised in conjunction with TAT and The Fine Arts Department, Kru Muay Thai Association, Thai Martial Art Institute Association, World Muay Thai Federation, and Professional Boxing Association of Thailand.

But this is not just a ceremony. Far from it in fact. International boxers will provide demonstrations of their skills. There are exhibitions, competitions between Thai and foreign fighters, ancient weapons on display, workshops for weaving, tattoo making and knife and sword making spectacles.

Many shops and stalls will be present selling a variety of Muay Thai based items and you can meet the boxers and martial artists in attendance, which the kids are sure to enjoy.

Buakaw Banchamek, who has won a multitude of championships at welterweight level in the art of Muay Thai will be present. Buakaw (meaning White Lotus) is a favourite with martial arts enthusiasts, has also appeared in martial arts movies.

He stated “I am extremely proud and honoured to lead the Thai boxers from around the world at this years ceremony.

So if Muay Thai boxing or martial arts in general is your thing, then this is a must see attraction.
